§ 1-4. Catchlines of sections; history notes; references to Code provisions.

Latest version.
  • (a)

The catchlines of the several sections of this Code printed in boldface type are intended as mere catchwords to indicate the contents of the section and shall not be deemed or taken to be titles of such sections, nor as any part of the section, nor, unless expressly so provided, shall they be so deemed when any of such sections, including the catchlines, are amended or reenacted.

    (b)

The presence of a history note appearing in parentheses such as (Code 1975, § 1-1) at the end of any section of this Code shall denote the derivation of that particular Code section; in addition, the presence of such a history note, or of one similar to it, shall be a declaration and determination by the common council that the section is a restatement or reenactment of a previously enacted ordinance, and that each such section shall be deemed reordained by the passage of this Code.

    (c)

All references to chapters, articles or sections are to the chapters, articles and sections of this Code unless otherwise specified.
